Today in Tower Hamlets Cemetary Park

Who are the people connected to the sea or the River Thames who are buried or commemorated in Tower Hamlets Cemetary Park?

The answer is provided in a full-colour, 24-page booklet published by The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park which will be launched at Tower Hamlets Cemetary Park on Saturday June 12th as part of the London Open Garden Squares weekend.

The speaker at the launch will be Jeremy Batch, a local historian and Lock Keeper at Limehouse Lock. Everyone is welcome to attend the launch.

A discount on the purchase price of the booklet will be offered to all who buy one or more copies on launch day!!

The booklet has been made possible due to the sterling work over many years of Doreen and Diane Kendall, Bradley Snooks, the volunteers who have recorded the memorials, and also to Ray Pegg who generously contributed to meeting the costs of printing.

Disability and Accessibility in Tower Hamlets Cemetary Park
The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park is also holding a round-table discussion on 'Disability and Accessibility' as the first of a series of exploratory discussions and brainstorming for ways that the Friends can help people with disability access and enjoy the charity's events and activities and the cemetery park itself.

If you are a person with disability, or a carer, work in the field or simply have a broad interest in accessibility of parks and volunteering and events, the Friends would really appreciate it if you could come along and help to think things through. For those participating, simple refreshments will be available.

As this coincides with London Open Squares Weekend, there will be plenty of opportunities before and after to enjoy the park, and learn from guides with knowledge of its wildlife and history.

Simply turn up at the Soanes Centre, THCP, Southern Grove, London E3 4PX www.towerhamletscemetery.org or to obtain further details, or discuss any special needs to enable participation, please contact Stella on stellamorrisinfo@aol.com or phone 07791 441 687 07791 441 687
